Liz - Director (Thailand)

Liz is responsible for the conception and formal organization of Thai Village. She grew up in Taiwan and Thailand and, after graduating from university in the USA, returned to Thailand. She began working with WELS Kingdom Workers in 2003, at which time she began to develop Thai Village as a separate self-sustainable organization. This grew out of a desire to reach out to local people and encourage them in their natural and culturally significant handicraft skills, as well as to see them earn much-needed income through the application of these skills. Liz has a BA in Interdisciplinary Cultural Studies, an MA in Field Linguistics, an MBA in International Business Administration, and graduate certificates in Social Entrepreneurship, Growth for Private Businesses, and Non-Profit Leadership Management. She currently directs the operations of Thai Village in Thailand.

Nancy - USA Coordinator and Distributor (USA Director)

Nancy serves as the volunteer USA displays coordinator and USA Director of Thai Village. She developed a love for Thailand when she worked as a Development Worker in the Peace Corps in Thailand from 1987-1989. She returned to Thailand in 2000 to work as a WELS Kingdom Worker in Chiang Mai for two years, at which time she improved her ability to speak, read, and write Thai. Since 2004 Nancy has been volunteering her time to direct the stateside day-to-day running of Thai Village, focusing on managing the product inventory and pursuing venues for product sales. Nancy has a BSSW in Social Work and has worked with United Refugee Services, specializing in Southeast Asian refugees.

Eric - President, Secretary

Eric served as a WELS Kingdom Worker in Thailand from 2007-2009, and managing the accounting for Thai Village during that time. From 2010-2013 Eric pursued and completed an MA in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) degree at Payap University in Chiang Mai. He currently serves on the church council at St. Peter’s Lutheran in Milwaukee, WI  the Recording Secretary of the Asia-Pacific Rim Administrative Committee of WELS Board for World Missions, and has served as the President and Secretary of the Board of Directors of Thai Village since 2015.

Joyce - Vice President

Joyce has been serving as the Vice President of the Thai Village Board of Directors since 2008. Joyce learned of Thai Village when her daughter began working in Thailand with WELS Kingdom Workers and Thai Village in 2007. Since then, Joyce has had the opportunity to visit Thailand multiple times and has been a key player in hosting numerous handicraft displays, connecting others to handicraft displays, and pursuing sales venues across America. Her enthusiasm for world missions, the activities involved in supporting world missions, and Thai Village in particular, has become contagious.

Barry - Treasurer

Barry serves as the Treasurer of the Thai Village Board of Directors and has been volunteering his time in this capacity since 2013. He consults on Thai Village financial matters and in the greater organization of Thai Village strategic plans and programs. Barry has a BA in Accounting and an MA in Finance and has over 40 years of experience in Corporate Accounting and Finance. He has served on the Boards of several subsidiary companies, joint ventures and a Credit Union. He has also served as President & CEO of a Financial Services Group and a Credit Union (not-for-profit financial co-operative). Barry has volunteered as his congregation’s Treasurer since 2002.

Katie - Production Manager, Design, Shipping and Special Orders

Katie joined Thai Village in 2007 when she accepted a WELS Kingdom Workers position in Chiang Mai, Thailand. She has since become more involved in the day to day aspects of helping run TVI by managing craft production, designing products, and handling all shipping and special orders. She enjoys being a part of a team that is involved in the lives of local people in Thailand and connects others to their work. Katie has a BA in Psychology and Music and certificates in Community Health Education, Foundations and Principles of Holistic Ministry, Principles and Practices of Christian Microfinance and Microenterprise Development, and Faith, Philanthropy, and Change.

Nora - Product Development, Program Consultant

Nora has been involved with Thai Village since its informal beginnings in 2004. She served alongside her husband Rob as WELS missionaries in Taiwan from 1979-1993 and in Thailand from 1993 until present day. She currently volunteers much of her time helping with market runs, product design and development, packaging design, and encouraging the Thai Village artisans and staff in Thailand.

Sara - Bookkeeper

Sara joined the Thai Village team in Chiang Mai, Thailand in 2011 and has been serving as Thai Village’s volunteer bookkeeper since then. She has a BA in Biology and an MS in Genetic Counseling, and is a licensed Genetic Counselor in 19 states. She has also received certificates in “Non-Profit Accounting” from City Vision College and “Faith, Philanthropy, and Change” from Taylor University.

Jade - Show Room Manager, Translator, HR

Jade is from Southern Thailand and has volunteered her time to help Thai Village since 2009. She now serves as a part time employee at Thai Village and oversees Human Resources, our visitation outreach program, the Thai/English translation of documents, and the Chiang Mai based showroom. Jade grew up in the south of Thailand in a Buddhist family and became a Christian after an English camp during her last year of studies at a university in Chiang Mai. Since then, she says, God has taught her many things and has used her as a prayer warrior and a blessing to many people.
