God has been making it grow

It’s not every day you get to see things grow.  In fact, in this region, it’s not unusual to labor for years without seeing spiritual fruit above the surface.   On a recent visit to see our vocational training manager Sudkaet in his outreach location south of Chiang Mai, we got to not only hear about but also see some of the growth that God has brought about in the past few months.

I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.  So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.”  1 Corinthians 3:6-7

Sudkaet is the kind of person that makes you want to be around him.  You may remember his powerful story of his electrical accident as a teenager that resulted in the loss of his left arm and later conversion to faith in Christ through a friend, Thai Village manager Nuut (read about that here). Sudkaet has been a part of our team for several years as a tin and woodworking designer and trainer using his professional background in architecture, and many have raved over his detailed handiwork (here are some products he’s made).  After completing a degree in Theology, he began outreach in a rural village south of town over a year ago, where Thai Village has partnered with his efforts in hosting outreach events in nearby schools and at his small church (read about that here).

Laboring on for Christ

Throughout the first year, he remained positive and tried to not be discouraged even though he had yet to see the fruit of his labor, planting seeds through prayer walking and building relationships, and watering through playing football (soccer) with the teens in the area, visiting his contacts, weekly worship and offering Thai Village income generation projects to his neighbors.

God’s fruit

In our recent visit, Sudkaet marveled at the fruit God has brought about in the past few months.  His building has doubled in size as the landlord invited him to expand his worship space by knocking down a wall and using the room next door.  His numbers have expanded as he now has a core group of people from the village attending on Sunday mornings, including many teenagers.  His rapport in the area has expanded as new Thai Village wood product designs have provided work for his neighbors.

He gave glory to God and thanks to those who continue to pray for and support his outreach.
