Over the years, tin ornament orders from customers have provided a great opportunity for Thai Village to train new artisans, help them earn critical income, and bring them into a loving Christian community. This year, Thai Village trained 7 new artisans in this skill of metal working. 4 of these new tin smithing artisans live in a remote village which we visited in September.
The visit had multiple purposes: to encourage, to further train, and to bolster partnership with the local church in those villages. During the village trip, the TVI artisan liaison and managers worked with the local church leaders to plan home visits to each artisan’s home. In addition, they coordinated with TVI staff to lead children’s programs on Friday and Saturday for the children in these areas hosted by the local churches themselves.
A TVI manager who is from this village was able to share her story and her faith journey at the children’s event to a crowd of family, peers and artisans who wouldn’t otherwise have gathered at the local evangelist’s home.
